The staff were very friendly and willing to help. Relaxing sofas and log fires in hotel areas. A clean accommodation and the facillities in the apartment were good. Nice grounds and resident pets(very friendly dog nice to see peacocks and other birds roaming free)
The apartment(seperate from the main building) although clean did smell damp but this could be because of the age of the building. Probably wouldnt book this room if staying longer. Would ask for room in main building.

Very good looking, impressive building, set in attractive gardens. open log fires and comfy seating in lounges and good food in restaurant.
Upstairs in the hotel, the picture changes.None of the rooms appears to have any sound insulation, so you can hear other guests speaking, coughing, flushing the toilets and clumping up and down the stairs.Even moving in bed makes the iron bedsteads creak.

The staff was very welcoming. We got upgraded to a fourposter suite and they had the most delicious log building fires going in the evenings with comfy chairs to relax in at the end of a hard day exploring. I am pregnant with a craving for icechips which they keep providing at no extra cost. I love the sounds of the birds in the morning and the drive up to the hotel. Would definitely stay there again...its a little gem of a find.
the bathroom was abit on the small side but it was functional which was the main thing i suppose

Wonderful old manor house full of character and in a great location. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable and very clean - and certainly excellent value for money. Having read some of the previous reviews I wasn't sure what to expect - but I loved it and will definitely return.

Lovely area - easy access to West Devon and East Cornwall. Restaurant reasonable. Dog friendly, especially their Great Dane!
Cottage was very run-down. Furniture geriatric. Kitchen utensils not clean. Very noisy peacocks at 5 a.m!

Staff were all very helpful and did their best to help us enjoy our stay as we were a little disappointed with our accommodation. my daughter really enjoyed the Pony trekking with Lucy.
We stayed in the bungalow cottage and it can only be said that the decor , furnishings etc were all very tired eg carpet.in lounge was threadbare. The bed was not the most comfortable as the springs had gone . The whole place needed a clean and refreshing. Also the bungalow was a little cold in the morning. That said, we did make our feelings known to the staff and a few touches were added to try and enhance our comfort and this was appreciated. Grounds need some attention

We loved the quirky cottage and the countryside location. Good value for money!
The heater in the living room was either not on at all or so hot that I still have burning marks. The hotel has been informed about this, so hopefully it won't be a problem

Lovely location , gardens nice.
We booked a triple room that turned out to be very small , dirty carpets and curtains , un washed tea cups , no hot water for a shower in the morining , there was a hole in the floor of the bathroom and there were many cobwebs in the bathroom , the beds were awful , probably about 50 years old with a paper thin duvet. Breakfast was poor , there was a bowl of rotten fruit on offer !!

Family Room w/kitchen !
Actually No WiFi Signal even m the introduction on Booked.net said it will have WiFi. Even raised up to staff, they claimed the signal is weak at that area, and just re-boot the router once and then refused to make any acton !!

Lovely location. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Not as clean as we would have liked. Carpet in bedroom was marked. Bathroom was very small with a sloping roof- had to be careful not to hit your head getting in and out. Would not stay there again.

Hotel is in a good situation and the main building is friendly and comfortable, staff friendly and responsive to our needs
The appartment is adequate but extremely tired looking, the single beds uncomfortable. We enjoyed our stay, but would not return until assured that a refit had been done.

Good choice of breakfast cooked as required. Very good grounds. A nice quiet place to relax (apart from the noisy peacocks!)
The noisy peacocks.
